There is so much to love about this Downtown Chicago Winter Engagement Session. First of all, no matter how cold it is in the city, it’s always so beautiful. The way I always see it is, if it’s going to be cold, give me something pretty to enjoy. And you can always find something worth enjoying when you’re in Chicago.
We started the session at the Chicago Theatre because that’s where Joe proposed to Emily a few months ago. I love when couples go back to those spots that are so meaningful during the engagement session. Although the Theatre was swamped with little girls excited to see Trolls live, we timed it perfectly to enjoy the quiet and calm atmosphere once everyone was settled inside. Finding those quiet, hidden pockets in the city are also a gem. This alley was right across from the Theatre and it was a perfect photo opportunity! I love all the color and texture it provided.
As we walked around, we decided to take the Riverwalk which again was super quiet and calm. The little bit of snow that had settled on the ground was the perfect addition in the photos. Granted it was extremely cold, but when you’re on a mission for the perfect pictures, it’s no bother at all.
After changing we walked back to stop at Stans Donuts on Michigan avenue because, duh! Who doesn’t love a donut stop? And the added bonus of enjoying a birthday cake donut on my way home was the perfect ending to the day. Afterwards, Mary Emily and Joe took their coffees and we headed to Millennium Park to cap off the afternoon. It was the perfect opportunity to soak up some more snow, and have some fun before we ended the day.
I hope you enjoy this fun, Chicago Winter Engagement Session. I can’t wait to photograph these two again in August on their Wedding Day!
