Have I mentioned how much I love winter engagement sessions? Seriously, forget all the cold frigid feelings, I can not get over how much i have enjoyed shooting this winter! And of course it just so happened to begin snowing on the day of Nick and Laurens engagement session, and that beautiful fresh snow fall is hard to beat.
Stuff all your pockets with hand warmers, think about hot chocolate (or beer), stay close and snuggly, and laugh a lot. Mix all those things together and you’ll barely know its only 4 degrees out. Ok maybe that’s exaggerating but you get the point. But it kind of works because, looking at these photos I can’t tell that it was actually only 4 degrees on the day of this shoot.
One thing I always tell my girls is to be mindful of scarves. I LOVE scarves, its one of my favorite accessories. However, it can photograph very badly if not worn the right way. The big blanket scarves are great for colder sessions, but when you wear them around your neck they bunch up and although they’re meant to cover your neck, you want your face to be more elongated in photos not shortened by the scarf. So incorporate it by wearing it around your shoulders for a loose and playful look, treating it more like a blanket.
And can we take note at how gorgeous Lauren is? She is such a natural beauty and a gem to photograph! On top of that, she showed me her wedding dress for her October wedding and i about died! I have a feeling i will be over sharing those wedding photos as well because she will look absolutely STUNNING!
